This publication sets out a briefing to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Defence in June 2018 to clarify where New Zealand Defence Force operational contingency personnel can be deployed within Iraq. The briefing is titled Taji Deployment – Use of Operational Contingency. The Ministers agreed that the operational contingency contained in the 2015 Cabinet paper would not apply to Taji (recommendation (e)(ii)).

Certain information has been withheld from the document where the making available of the information would be likely to prejudice the security or defence of New Zealand or the international relations of the Government of New Zealand [in accordance with section 6(a) of the Official Information Act 1982].
